Yep, California sure is the 'volunteering state'. Whatever
you want to do, be it cleaning up streets,
fighting lung cancer or teaching kids about how to speak Kisuaheli, rest assured
that there is a group
of volunteers with a committee already, just waiting for you to join in. So
we volunteered to help building
a hiking trail somewhere near to Halfmoon Bay. It was actually a lot of fun,
besides being stung
by yellowjacks. But that happens all the time, I've been told.

(Not) sleeping like a log... We carried this beast about
500 feet to it's final location - the corner of the
trail I was working on. We used it to block sand and gravel from sliding down
the hill. Boy, I can't
wait until this trail is open to the public so I can hike it....

Here we have Robert, Phil, Tim and Priscilla working on
a bridge. Engineers and construction workers
as they are, the endresult had to be very precise. They did a phantastic job.

Priscilla and Robert on the finished bridge. This should
last a while...

This is the part of the trail that I have been working on
most of the day.
We decided to call it 'Karsten's corner'. Can't argue with that :-D.
