Le Tour de Peninsula

Not quite the Tour de France, but almost as strenuous - at least for all the rookies (including me) who tried
to master the 33 miles (50 kilometers) throughout the rolling hills between Redwood City and Milbrae.
Of course this race is an hommage to 'Le Tour', it's main reason though is to raise money for the parks and
trails in San Mateo county. This year roughly 3,500 cyclists participated and the majority made it to the end
- without using the officially permitted shortcuts. I didn't cheat either - just in case you wondered...

At Sequoia High School in Redwood City - at 7:30 a.m. - on a Sunday. Still can't believe I did that...
This is the registration area - and the last chance to bail... which Maria actually did. Yep, I have to say it -
Maria bailed. Could not get out of bed. Yeah, right... Ok - enough of that.

Priscilla before the race - totally enthusiastic!

Me... less enthusiastic. Not that I mean to whine but I've only been on my bike a couple of times this year,
it's a really old mountain bike, and I haven't been riding 33 miles for about 25 years! Ok - I am whining.
Sue me ;).

Going uphill 'Mount Everlast'. This bitch was stretching forever. And I thought this was the worst -
did they have news for me. The toughest part actually was close to the end, going uphill
from Canada Road to I-280.

A little break on Mount Everlast. And we thought the worst was over....

Priscilla taking a break at the *whateverit'scalled* water reservoir.
