Running Bay to Breakers

Alright - some basic information about this run: Bay to Breakers stands for an open race that starts
at the San Francisco Bay and goes through the city, almost straightforward west to the 'Breakers',
which stands for the big waves on the Pacific Coast of San Francisco.
This race was first introduced in 1912, six years after the devastating 1906 earthquake - with the intention
to boost the spirit of 'The City' after the quake. As running became more popular in the 1980's,
locals mingled and made this race a truly colorful event - as you can see from the pictures.

Here is part of our group: Patrick, Mike, Erin and Danielle. This was about half an hour after the start.
The pros make the whole run in about 35 minutes, but we decided to enjoy that day.

Fred Flintstone on his brontosaur. I never saw these guys reach the finish line. I guess the rain dissolved
their papermaché dinosaur pretty quickly.

More visitors from the stone age.

Elvis lives!

You are so busted...

The "Village People" on the move.

After the race - 7.5 miles and a lot of rain later. We were so cold that we could hardly stand still. I guess,
although this run was colorful and fun, everybody was glad to get home. It was just way too cold.
Nevertheless - see you again next year :).
